Fish egg shape on Angkor Wat’s wall
Please don't call it "fish egg" pattern, it's not a good translation even that is a direction translation from Khmer vernacular term. However, those round, circular and semi-dome patterns are actually suppose to be pearls, or string of pearls, and beads. Beside other valuables such as gold, silver, and gem stones, earls were important and significant part of the temple's wealth. and strings of pearls were also used as offering and decorations on statues of deities. Therefore, it's sound better, in English anyway, to called it as pearl or string of pearl beads.
